PatchFusion ~ FOX infestation

by on Feb.07, 2008, under Artists, Artwork, News, Patches, Third Party Software

FOXes have wormed their way into everything on Furcadia, and third party software is no different.

Weighing in at just under 2.0, (1.9) PatchFusion is making it’s way into Furcadia Downloads everywhere.

With more updates slated for the future, this version of Patch Fusion, (dubbed "All power corrupts, but we need the energy") has in it support for the new FOX file format. This includes the ‘frames’ for making client-side animation.

It doesn’t have a kitterspeak editor, so animations still have to be done in the FSHeditor; it will allow you to make full FOX Files, however.

Keep watching here, or Lothus’s website for more news and information.

You can get the latest version of patch fusion here.

Oh, yeah, Furcadia.

I know I’ve been writing a -lot- about what all I’ve been doin’ for the site here and haven’t really written much about what’s going on with Furcadia.

Well, suffice it to say there are two stories brewin’ on the horizon about Furcadia.

I’m also going to start ‘ranting’ about some of the stuff I dislike on Furcadia. Not really about the company, (Don’t want to bite the hand that feeds necessarily,) but there might be some things that creep in from time to time.

As for Furcadia itself, the update didn’t happen yesterday, as I’m sure you noticed. Why?

The new client has a lot of bugs left. For those of you keeping count, the number of days left until the server -has- to move is 3. Feb 2nd is the day it has to be done by.

That said, they’ve been adding things to the client still. This latest RC has remapping Digo Buttons, so they appear dressed in your colours. I thought that was pretty cool. The phoenix glamour looks kinda neat, but it’ll wear down after time, I’m sure.

I got to test out the Live Dream Editing, and while still buggy, it’s a lot of fun to play with, just like client-side animations.

The butler is now a button, too, so it’ll be easier to modify skins using him. Your skins might (will) break with this addition, so be prepared to fix it.

There’s a test mode coming out. 15 minutes to muck around inside a dream that goes beyond your normal limits. Then you get kicked out. Should be enough time to fix some of the more pesky issues and let you see how a bigger map and such works.

All in all, it’s shaping up to be pretty nice if they can get the kinks out in the next few days. The kinks seem to mostly do with the way the client is rendering things, though, so it shouldn’t be too hard to fix.

By the way, there are some slight issues with Furnarchy in the update; I’ve given it a test and passed along the information to the programmer. Hopefully a fix will come out shortly after the update. As it is, the proxy is more than usable without any tricks or spoofs, so everything should be fine. The issues revolve mostly around memlocs.

Furnarchy Update!

by on Jan.30, 2008, under Digos, Dragons Eye Productions, Entwined Studios, Furrums, News, Proxies, Third Party Software

Furnarchy 2 has hit the streets again with an update.

The issues that people were having with the client should be fixed for now. With this update there were some added bonuses for Eggy users.

One of them is offline messaging. Now whenever you’re in a conversation with someone and they log off due to a random disconnection, you don’t have to worry about typing your post out completely! Eggy will handle sending it automatically. It includes a timestamp so that the recipient will know when it was sent to them. You can turn off the offline messaging if you’d like so that it doesn’t handle it automatically.

Another great thing is that whenever you’re on the same map as some of your friends, they’ll get a little exclamation point beside their name in the eggy window. It also announces when they’re on the same map as you like this:

[f] Mandalt is on the map.

Cluracan managed to add in seperate logfiles, (for those that like them,) so that they don’t have to be stored in one big txt anymore as well. (This is optional.)

Hopefully Furnarchy 2 will work after the update and will only require a slight memloc update.

Oh, Furcadia is also slated to update later today. #SK

Furnarchy 2

by on Jan.25, 2008, under Dragons Eye Productions, News, Proxies, Third Party Software

Seems that there’s an issue with Furnarchy 2 due to an IP change made by DEP overnight.

There’s not much information available yet, but when it does become available, I’m sure you can find out about it here.

I’ll try to keep everyone posted.

Temporary fix found:

Temp-fix seemingly found to the issue of modules/scripts not working.

Open your Furcadia config.

Click Proxies/settings.

Turn it on, put in 72.36.220.249 as the ip addy. Clear the port, (it doesn’t matter,) and make sure you’re trying to connect through “Furcadia Proxy”.

Apply

Ok

Double click the F2 icon.

Enjoy.

Thanks to Amfortas for helpin’ figure this out.
