What's that, Furcadia?

Gar

Singing

by on Jan.02, 2008, under Dragons Eye Productions, Emerald Flame, Entwined Studios, Furrums, Gar, News

I was told that I should sing the 12 Digos of Christmas song that Gar put together. Emerald Flame was insistent.

I was told not to by a friend; their attitude about it kind of pissed me off, so I decided that I was, for sure, going to do so.

And now, I have. The music in the background is a midi of “Sweet Dreams” Marilyn Manson’s version.

Power Supply Meltdown

by on Dec.07, 2007, under Artists, Artwork, Digos, Dragons Eye Productions, Emerald Flame, Felorin, Gar, News, Roleplay

Recently Dragon’s Eye Production’s has had some… problems.

According to Emerald Flame, three power supplies went out on three computers in as many days at DEP HQ recently. Felorin’s, Gar’s, and Leah’s all failed or had something else happen to them.

Emerald Flame:
Gar’s computer made a cool wind up sound and a large *pop* and sparks and smoke came out the back

Gar was actually in the middle of doing graphics for some of the new items up for sale on the Digo Market. Unfortunately, because the computer he is currently using doesn’t run Photoshop very well, they are still graphic-handicapped.

Seasons Greetings
Throwable Snowballs
Candy Canes
A hot “Cuppa”

I have no idea what the hell a hot “Cuppa” is, unless they’re trying to say it’s a hot cup of cocoa or coffee. It doesn’t really roll off of my tongue well, but that’s my personal opinion. There are also some flower arrangements available that seem more like they belong with a “spring” kind of sale, but…
(Well, it is summer down in the southern hemisphere…)

Some of you might notice that the Digo Market has been changing a little bit. That’s to better facilitate customers, and offer a new category for people to order from. Unfortunately, Gar was doing the work on the site when his computer decided to kill itself.

I wonder how a psychologist would interpret that… (Just kidding, Gar.)

Felorin and sanctimonious attended this year’s “Austin Independent Game Conference. It revolved around helping indie games, (such as Furcadia) manage to become successful. Emerald Flame told me that Felorin was a guest Speaker for “Project Horseshoe” at this conference.

Slated for the next update, (hopefully) should be accounts. With accounts will come things like Character Pages and (possibly) legit alt trading for those who like to trade their alts around a lot.

Edit: It has come to our attention that sometime yesterday Gar’s PC stumbled upon another failure, this one of the Hard Disk Drive failure variety.

Kittrel – Pirate’s off the port bow!

by on Sep.21, 2007, under Artists, Artwork, Dragons Eye Productions, Gar, News

I sat down with Kittrel today to discuss the artwork she did with Dragon’s Eye Productions for the Pirates vs Ninjas sale.

Kittrel is a 27 year old Female artist. Her medium of choice is an unassuming 5.5” by 8” sketchbook and Prisma colored pencils. These are the tools used to make the pirate and ninja used, (after digital modification by Gar,) for the advertisements in the Pirates vs Ninjas campaign.

This pirate has been on Furcadia since she was seventeen. A former Owsla member was a helping hand cast about Sanctuary, back when it was a fully functional guild. Right now she’s a part-time illustrator – currently working on a series of children’s books about saving the environment – and working 3rd shift at a dog kennel where she says, “at least I get to be around animals”.

Over the years she has taken an ‘on again, off again’ approach to Furcadia, with more time on than off. She has traveled to various different conventions, meeting up with other Furcadian’s and the creators of the game. She seems to be sincerely happy with the friendships she has formed with Dragon’s Eye Productions.

After spending ten years on Furcadia, Kittrel’s big break in the art-scene finally came through. One night, while sitting at her PC, an instant message came in asking her if she wanted to do artwork for Furcadia. Since it was Pirates vs Ninjas, it was an opportunity that was “to fun to pass up”.

She is also hoping that this will lead to more artwork for Furcadia in the future. As she put it, “It’s always nice to help out your friends and I’ve gotten free publicity, so I won 3 ways”.

For her trouble she was gifted with a pirate desctag. She’s an avid pirate supporter, too. (Sorry, Ninjas.)

For those of you interested, she does accept commissions, too. You’ll be able to see most of her artwork here.
